I was fortunate enough to attend Art school and during that period there was question of doing painting or taking advantage of the equipment at the facility that I probably would not be able to enjoy again.  At Canterbury, I switched over to the Printmaking department and tried all the different mediums: etching, lithography, mezzotint.  I was heavily influenced by another student at the time that was doing photographic silkscreens and I wanted to try my hand at this kind of work.   Looking at some of the early collage works and movie poster art of the Constructivist period, I tried to mix the broad brushstroke of my paintings into the static dot-matrix patterns of the photographic emulsion.  Some of the works are environmental statements about Man’s (not Women’s) destruction of nature, pollution and global catastrophe.  Other pieces are personal snapshots of reflection, trying to understand where I was at that time of my life, the loneliness and sense of belonging.
